Blessed to be a blessing

A non-sectarian, non-denominational, Full Gospel Christian ministry — proclaiming the Gospel, healing, restoration and liberty found in Jesus Christ.

Our story

Spreading the Gospel to the World

Jesus the Anointed One Church (JA1 Church) is a non-sectarian, non-denominational, Full Gospel Christian ministry founded in the Philippines under the leadership of Bishop Arthur V. Gonzales, Founding Head Pastor and President. JA1 traces its roots to Batangas City, Philippines, where the ministry was birthed on December 20, 1998. From its early beginnings, the church embraced a calling to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, make disciples, minister healing to the brokenhearted, and bring freedom to those in spiritual bondage through the ministry of Inner Healing and Deliverance. Genesis 12:1–3 and Luke 4:18–19 are our foundational passages: to be blessed in order to become a blessing, and to proclaim the Gospel, healing, restoration, and liberty found in Jesus Christ. Under Bishop Gonzales' leadership, JA1 grew from Batangas into a network of churches and ministries in the Philippines and internationally, including Canada. Today, Jesus the Anointed One Church Canada continues this calling as a Christ-centred, multicultural Christian family committed to worship, discipleship, evangelism, prayer, missions, healing, restoration, and serving communities across Canada.

Statement of faith

Our Declaration of Faith

The doctrinal framework shared across JA1 Church, in the Philippines and in Canada.

01

The Bible

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God, authoritative and trustworthy, and God's complete revelation for faith and life.

2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:19; Revelation 22:18–19

02

The Nature of God

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, equal in nature, power and glory.

Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19–20; 2 Corinthians 13:14

03

Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus Christ is God manifested in the flesh, conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, completely without sin, and the promised Messiah and Lord.

Isaiah 9:6–7; Matthew 1:23; John 1:1, 14; Hebrews 4:15

04

Salvation

We believe humanity is separated from God by sin and in need of salvation. Jesus Christ died for our sins, was buried, rose again, ascended into heaven, and will return. Salvation is by God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ and His finished work, not through human merit or works.

John 14:6; Acts 16:31; Ephesians 2:1–10; 1 Corinthians 15:1–4

05

The Church

We believe the Church is the Body and Bride of Christ, composed of born-again believers who gather for worship, fellowship, discipleship, ministry, evangelism and encouragement.

Acts 2:42–47; Ephesians 4:1–6

06

Baptism in the Holy Spirit

We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit and in the empowering work of the Holy Spirit in believers, accompanied by the initial evidence of speaking in other tongues as the Holy Spirit gives utterance.

Matthew 3:11; Acts 1:8; Acts 2:38–39; Acts 19:1–7

07

Sanctification

We believe sanctification is both a definite and progressive work of God's grace, beginning at regeneration and continuing throughout the believer's life as we grow into Christlikeness.

1 Thessalonians 5:23; 2 Corinthians 3:18; 2 Peter 3:18

08

Divine Healing and Deliverance

We believe God continues to heal and restore lives through the power of the Holy Spirit and the prayer of faith. We believe in Christ's ministry of healing, restoration and deliverance to those who are oppressed and broken.

Isaiah 53:4–5; Luke 4:18–19; James 5:14–15; Acts 10:38

09

Water Baptism

We believe water baptism by immersion is a public declaration of the believer's identification with the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Matthew 28:19–20; Romans 6:3–4; Colossians 2:12

10

The Lord's Supper

We believe in observing the Lord's Supper in remembrance of Jesus Christ and His sacrificial death for us.

1 Corinthians 11:23–32

11

Giving

We believe believers are called to participate generously in advancing God's Kingdom through tithes, offerings and faithful stewardship.

Malachi 3:10; 2 Corinthians 9:6–10

12

Final Judgment

We believe every person will stand before God and that there will be eternal reward or eternal judgment.

Matthew 25:31–46; Revelation 20:11–15

13

The Second Coming of Christ

We believe Jesus Christ will personally and visibly return to the earth in power and glory.

Matthew 24:30–31; 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17; 1 Corinthians 15:51–53

14

Gifts and Fruit of the Holy Spirit

We believe the gifts of the Holy Spirit described in the New Testament remain available to the Church today and that the fruit of the Spirit should be evident in the life of every believer.

1 Corinthians 12:1–11; Romans 12:6–8; Galatians 5:22–23

15

The Great Commission

We believe evangelism, discipleship and missions are central to the calling of the Church. We are commissioned to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to individuals, families, communities and nations.

Matthew 28:18–20; Mark 16:15; 2 Corinthians 5:18–20

“I will bless you … and you will be a blessing. All peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”

Genesis 12:2-3

“He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives.”
